Eltham Festival of Stories

Once Upon a Time there was a little town called Eltham where many stories lived and were loved…
The inaugural Eltham Festival of Stories – for Young and Old, will be held at Panther Place, Eltham on Saturday 14th October from 10.30am until 4.30pm.
This is an event for lovers of picture books, YA fiction and everything in between. It provides local readers an opportunity to meet and share stories with local and national writers and illustrators.
Opening with a Welcome to Country by Aunty Joy Murphy, the festival will begin with a morning of story time and hands on creative activities with children’s book creators. In the afternoon, festival-goers will hear from panels of writers of middle grade and YA fiction and have the opportunity to chat with teen members of the Inside A Dog Advisory Board.
Throughout the day, meet authors and illustrators, mingle with other book lovers and participate in story making activities. Have a question to ask your favourite author? Want to know how an illustrator creates a particular character? Have kids who won’t go to sleep until you’ve read the fifth picture book for the thirtieth time…then this is a festival for you!
Artists appearing include: Joy Murphy (Welcome to Country), Lisa Kennedy (Welcome to Country), Nikki Greenberg (Meerkat Choir), Ailsa Wild (Squishy Taylor), Tull Suwannakit (What Happens Next), Zana Fraillon (The Bone Sparrow), Kate Constable (Crow Country), Lili Wilkinson (Green Valentine), Penny Harrison (Dance With Me), Luke Harris (Golden Scale), Kelly Gardiner (1917), Cath Crowley, Fiona Wood & Simmone Howell (Take Three Girls), Kate Mildenhall (Skylarking), and teen judges for the Inky Book Awards.
